Front-Load Washing Machine Odour

Customers often complain of a mildew-type odour coming from their front-load washing machine.  This could be from excessive use of detergent.  In the Greater Vancouver Area, we have soft water which doesn't break down the soap as easily.  The soap that remains within the washing machine along with excess moisture causes an odour over extended periods of time.

Tip: Try using less detergent than what is recommended on the packaging, as the instructions are for multiple regions with different water.  This will also save you money as your detergent will last longer!

Tip:  Leave your washing machine door open when the machine is not in use.

Tip:  There are certain cleaning products on the market that you could use while running an empty cycle (no clothes in the machine) which would clean out the machine and help get rid of the odour.
